vibration problem?
I have a question, I have a 99 Miata and when I get on the expressway I start to get a vibration or shimmy at 68 mph and it stops at 70 to 72 mph. I had all the tires balance. Do you think I need new wheel bearings. FYI the car has 45000 miles.
thanks in advance,
Gary

A tire that has an internal belt problem will still balance. Even a bent wheel will balance. This does not mean that you will not get a vibration. More than likely you have at least 1 tire or wheel problem. i assume they checked the tie rods for slop. A wheel bearing won't cause a vibration generally. Look at the wheel weights on each wheel. The one with the most weight is likely the culprit.

I have the same problem. I had it with the old tires and now I replaced them with Falkens and it is still there even after balancing, rotating etc. My 99 Miata has 61k but this problem has existed for a few years. It does not vibrate the steering wheel and at freeway speeds, I moved the shifter into neutral to see if the problem was in the drivetrain of the manual transmission, it was still there, no difference. Would be interested in what you find out.
