Why did I buy a black car in Florida?
Cuz Im an A**
Well, I bought ablack 2002 Mazda Protege because Im an idiot, and the AC is failing. It has four fan speed settings respectively, and recently coolant on speed 2 stopped working. The fans work, but it blows hot air intermittently. The greenLEDon theAC button turns on and off respectively when it blows either with or without coolant. Keep this in mind, that was speed "2". Soon after speed "2" does not send coolant at all, then speed "3" started to act up, then completely died. Now, only speed "1" works completely, with the green led lit up throughout its duration. Speed 4 sometimes works if I switch from speed one real fast, but it never works for more than a couple seconds. The fans blow perfectly on all speed settings, but 2-4 do not send coolant for some reason. Maybe electrical problem?? Please help, I am in Florida, and this thing gets sooo hot inside. Any Tips/Questions/Answers are welcomed and appreciated!

My initial impression is that your ac system is overheating. When you have the fan on a high speed, the system is taking in a lot of heat, and therefore has a lot to get rid of. On a lower speed, it's taking in less heat. If the coolant is low, the compressor can overheat and shut off. When the compressor shuts off the light on the console will usually turn off. My suggestion would be to take it in and have them check the coolant, and make sure the compressor isn't going out.
