Default 2019 Mazda CX 5

Hi in New here so don’t know if this has been asked or covered. I was told that I should be able to unlock my doors without using the keyfob. I don’t have an extra button on my door handle like some have. Is there another way to do this, or is it that my model does not have that option?

Advanced Keyless Entry is part of the Touring package on the US and not Sport. I suspect the button is the advanced part.

My wife hates that feature. Before I got it, I would unlock the door 20 feet before I got to the car. Now I unlock it when I get to the door. She walks faster then I do.

Lol... thank you for responding and walk faster!! I wish mine came with that feature. Other than that I love it, I have the Soul Red and it’s absolutely beautiful..

my salesman was in such a rush, he didn’t explain any features to me, I think he thought I was not going to buy it since I had my mind made up when I got there and only wanted to see this one, he was such a jerk!!

I agree that I need to walk faster. The pay back is that in her car, she has to hit the unlock twice to open all doors. She occasionally hits it once and I have to wait until she sees that I am standing outside.

My salesmen was the exact opposite. Easy going, willing to help in any way, not upset if you looked and left and came back later. I am now a repeat customer.

I recommend going to a few dealers, ask a few of the same questions at each and see what answers you get. It also gives you the opportunity to learn about the vehicle before you buy. I tend to bring the best deal to the dealership I am most comfortable with and have them beet it.

Hopefully this is my last car, lol. I’ll be 50 in January and right at retirement when I pay it off.

I hate hearing talk like that. I turned 50 a few years back, (you youngster!). I have a good 40 years of driving left. My plan is to replace the Mazda3 every 150,000 miles or so and add a Miata when the new generation comes out in a few years. When the autonomous pods take over, I suspect I will get one of them and keep the Miata for driving fun.

I suspect I will own another 10 cars plus 5 for my wife (who is also over 50 but drives fewer miles).

We have a long road ahead of us, youngster.

Well since you put it that way You're right! I have at least another 40 (praying) years left of driving, and who knows what those autonomous pods will look like. I must admit though, Mazda has been extremely good to me. I traded in a 2012 Mazda 6 with 80,000 miles on it and the only thing I've ever had to do was get my oil changed done at the dealership, replaced the headlights and get new brakes, I'm a horrible driver. I've had a few recalls, but my Mazda dealership took care of me as soon as the parts came in.

I have another question if you don't mind.

The navigation system didn't come installed in my car, but I've been reading on Amazon that you can buy an SD Card that will technically give you the navigation feature. Good reviews, but I'm afraid that if something happens to the Communication Screen on the dashboard it may void my warranty. Have you heard of this SD card supposedly for Mazda Vehicles? I'm a little hesitant since my car is less than a week old. I'm also wondering if I really need it since I usually drive in town, mostly work and home.

Thank you again, I hope I'm not bothering you.

I am a huge fan of the Mazda navigation system. Others are not. They say the the phone based systems are better, have more detailed traffic support, more up-to-date road closures, and a ton of information about the current road conditions. Some advocate for the stick-in-the-window systems. They say that these systems have better graphics and more advanced features than the Mazda system. The Mazda system is fairly basic.

I am a huge fan of the Mazda system. I added it to the Mazda2 that my kids share, had it in my 2015 Mazda3 that my son is taking over and made sure it was in my new Mazda3. The kids said they didn't need it, they could use their phones. I want it in front of them, on a big screen, easy to use, and not requiring them to keep their phone in front of them while they are driving.

If you have Apple CarPlay / AndroidAuto in your CX-5, Waze or Google Maps are great systems especially if you only need it occasionally. I still prefer the Mazda system. It is easier to use and less distracting.

I love the freedom to go for a drive and see where a road goes. Glance down at the GPS to pick a road that goes in a direction I would like to go, pick a few extra roads along the way and when I am ready to go home, set the GPS to home and let it guide me there.

I appreciate the ability to avoid the regular route when it is backed up and let the GPS figure out the best route to get where I need to go.

When my wife calls and asks when I will be home, I glance at the GPS and give her a fairly exact time. Typically, I focus on the road around me and without the GPS on, I have to figure out which exit I passed and calculate an answer.

I see the GPS as a safety feature for the rural roads. On a foggy or unknown back road, a quick glance at the GPS tells me which way the road curves, how far the next intersection is and so on.

I would not hesitate to buy the SD card from a highly rated Amazon vendor (I would not buy one on eBay). Worst case, you buy one that was registered to another Mazda and it won't work. Return it and get another one. In a even worse case, it messes up your system. Restore the system to the factory defaults and everything should be back to normal. Absolute worst case, you can't fix it. Take it back to the dealer and say it is broken and they will fix it. I would be shocked if any of the above are necessary.

I bought mine for my latest Mazda3 from the dealer when purchasing the car. This added about $200.00. I did not go with Amazon for three reasons that turned out to not be valid. I wanted the manual (which they said Mazda no longer provides - I had to print it out from the internet), I wanted the extra features that are new to the Mazda3 system (that did not come with the system I bought from the dealer anyway) and I couldn't find the SD card for the 2019 Mazda3 on Amazon (I believe it is now available on Amazon). If I were buying it today, I would have bought from Amazon.
