Anybody Remember When-----?
My folks, when I was like 3 or so, bought a Chevy Malibu Classic 2 door. It had a front bench seat, that had an armrest in the middle that you had to pull down to use. Thats where I sat. No seatbelt. Anyone else remember those days? Another one, my folks also had a slide-in truck camper, and whenever we'd all go somewhere, my sister and I would be on top of the cab on the bed playing, or laying on our stomachs looking out those windows up there. Anyone else have any old school safety, or lack of, stories?

RE: Anybody Remember When-----?
i have two older brothers, two and four years older than me. car seats weren't required or used in my family until i was about 18 months old which made my brothers 3 and 5. it was still about 6 months after they were required before we all had them. the thing that finally set it off is that a cop passed by her when my brother was standing up in the back seat of her 4 door malibu with his face pressed against the glass. three tickets for no car seats. that changed quick.
i still remember when my parents had a 1984 custom suburban. who didn't back then though, huh. i rode on the center console of that truck until i was about 12. no seat, no seat belt. aside from that, my dad has always had a pickup and we rode in the back of that doing 70 down the freeway on the way back from baseball games from the point when i was about 8
