Automatic Shift ****
Hello
Ok forgive me everyone for this probably being the easiest post to answer to. I want to know how can I take off the stock automatic shift **** and put a nicer one on? Does anyone know how? I just want to get rid of that ugly stock one. Please help.
Thanks

RE: Automatic Shift ****
Hi
Crap well kick me twice..I forgot to put my model down. I have an '03 Protege, and it's one of those huge ones I have tried twisting I have pulling and it still won't come off. I am wondering whether I have to take the whole gear box out in order to do this. Does anyone know?
Thanks sstlaure I know what you mean about the Mazda 3, my brother has one and we turned that thing what felt like a zillion times.

RE: Automatic Shift ****
from what I have dealt with, I believe the protege shift **** does not come off. I've played around with them before but have yet to figure out if there is a way to get it off. I ran into the same problem that you have msp5speed.
If at all possible, I would ask your dealership if there is a simple solution to getting it off. What I ended up doing to my buddies car was to just take the intire shift stick out (the auto version) and replaced it with a Matrix unit.
Let me know if you try anything else... or have any ideas!
