RE: Obama Reaction 11/04/08
With him being the first black president, almost everything he does will be under a microscope. His entire presidency will be a solid damn if you do, damned if you don't. All the nay sayers will say it is because he is either black, or not enough time as a politician....
If he does something good, but the results are what was expected or hoped for.... the same thing.

I doubt what he does will be judged as to whether he's "black enough" Intelligent people shouldn't care what color he is.
I didn't vote for him, but the election put him into office.
We're in for change, still not sure if the change he is proposing is the kind I want.
I want the government involved in as little of my life as possible, I don't depend on them healthcare or money, but the dems tend to go for the socialized systems that benefit those that don't pay into those systems. (I'm one that gets to pay.)
He's got 4 years to earn my respect, if not, I'll vote against him...If he truly makes change for the better and the country is going in the right direction, who knows how I'll vote.

the changes that he is proposing are definitely not the kind of changes i want. my income level is the one that he seems to want to tax the hell out of to "redistribute wealth". i don't agree with any of his public or personal policy. i think that he is waaaaaay too left wing for me. i understand taxing and spending, but damn. all that i can say is at least he doesn't have near as much power as people think.

I didn't mean to imply that he was going to be judged because he was black, only that people would probably use that as the blame reason when he messes up or blunders, flounders etc....
he has a long hard road ahead.

IfBO does as he talked during the campaign, only those who earn north of $250K will pay more income taxes.
With the country being in bad shape, a big gov deficit, stuck in iraq, seems we're heading into or already in a recession, many banks shaky, not sure how much room there is to maneuver.
If by 2010, we get out of Iraq, the banking industry doesn't crumble, and the economy starts growing, that would be amazing. Maybesome kind of reform to better the health care landscape, and reach out to the world and make some friends. Seems like America has rubbed the international community the wrong way for awhile now.

Don't believe his promise of only increasing taxes on those over $250K (That's combined income, 200K if you're single) Expect it to go even further south, I'd expect south of the 6 figure line if the history of the Democratic party is any indicator.
I make less than half of that $200K and I expect that overall the costs will be higher for me over the coming years, even if he does put througha tax cut that gets to me. Pres. BO's tax calculator told me I'd pay $1800 less under him vs McCain. I don't believe it for a second.
Both were proposing tax cuts and I don't see how either could do that with a $10 Trillion dollar National Debt. Both of the candidates would run Negative balance economies throughout their first term with the costs ranging between $3.5-5 Trillion. (i.e. National debt of $10 Trillion+ 3.5/5 Trillion + interest.)
The Dem party has been after socialized health care for years. Good from a business side as you get those costs off of your books. Bad from a tax side as there will be people gaining benefits from the system without putting in their own tax dollars.
BOwants to tax businesses to spread the wealth, guess who ends up paying that (we do though higher prices on the goods purchased from those companies)
Companies will always make money, or they go out of business. Goods will cost more if the cost structure is higher due to taxes. It's basic economic theory.
I wish a viable candidate would come through with the straight tax on goods purchased. Then you directly control how much tax you pay. If you don't buy it, you don't get taxed on it. Period.
I'm not bashing him even though I didn't vote for him. He's got my support as the Commander-in-Chief starting on Jan 20th. I don't have a choice, that's how it works. If he doesn't do a good job andwe're notgoing in the right direction, we try again in 4 years. That's the beauty of the system.
Obama better not try to move on the guns in this country (He has a very anti-gun history, I predict he's going to tax ammunition prices into the stratosphere.)
He's a first term Senator....The Presidency is going to be one hell of a test.
