random thread to talk about whatever

OK. I thought it was time to bump this thread back up to the top... again.
But I do this not w/o reason: (VB should be able to figure this one out.)
This has been such a bad year in so many ways. Today was no exception. I came home today only to find that we had been burglarized.
The front of our house is about 100' back but can be clearly seen from the road. We always back down our 130' long driveway during the day because it's easier than backing out when we go to work... in the dark. So today I lined myself up, parallel to the house to back in and noticed a big black space where the front door is. It was open.
I was hoping that my wife opened it in the morning before she went to work, and in her half asleep state simply forgot to close and lock it. No such luck.
I went in through the back so as not to disturb anything. Of course the LED TV in the living room was gone and everything else, the DVD player, VCR, satellite box, and lightning arrester were in disarray. So I began to slowly walk around the rest of the house to see what else was gone. Obviously, this computer was still here, as well as my wife's jewelry box and other personal things.
But when I reached the music room, my heart dropped.
I had 2 guitars sitting out on stands, a 1995 Candy Apple Red Fender American Std Stratocaster w/matching headstock and a maple fretboard, and my old faithful, my very first guitar chosen and bought new by me in 1978, my acoustic 12-string. Both were gone!! I own a number of guitars, but for playing these were my 2 favorites.
I'm sick and can't sleep now.
I have a door frame to fix, a TV to replace, another claim into my insurance co and a Sheriff's department that can't do anything further until TUESDAY!!!???
As you may remember, this is the second time this year we have been ripped off and we are already sick of it. The whole time we were growing up, neither of us knew of anybody that got burglarized. My parents used to leave the doors unlocked until late at night. My tool box, and other tools, lived in a garage that was wouldn't close and nothing EVER got ripped off.
So, here's the deal. If any of you while searching the web run across these items being sold on your local/national Craig's List, eBay, or any other site, please let me know ASAP. The TV can be replaced. The guitars will never be replaced, if you know what I mean, but I want the morons CAUGHT and thrown in jail for a while!!!
Description of items:
1978 Sigma DM12-5 serial #028323. VG condition. It is mahogany, black binding, a piezo pickup under the bridge/preamp is mounted inside the body on the neck block (I forget the brand name. ) It has had white (now mellowed to yellow) w/blk dot Martin bridge pins in it since it was new. The top two tuners were replaced and don't look quite like the originals. They are oval in shape where as the OE's were ovals w/the sides "cut off. There is light damage to the headstock. A small dent and a sliver of rosewood missing from the face. It has a few dings on the sound board where the metal buckle of an older guitar strap used to hit it, a std black strap button was added to the upper treble bout. No damage to the back.
1995 Fender Stratocaster, American Standard, Candy Apple Red Metallic w/matching headstock, & Maple fretboard. Serial #N596676. No wear, no dings. Excellent condition. The only two thing I did to personalize her was a black pick up switch **** and a graphite (black) nut, sometimes called the zero fret.
Toshiba 32AV500U, 32" LCD TV and remote (They had the piece of mind to steal that too.) Serial #811101058684. No distinguishing marks that I am aware of. It was 14 months old.

This sucks. You can't ever have anything nice for long in this world. While living in Miami right before Christmas, we had someone break in my parents old house and unwrap and remove some of the presents under the Christmas tree. My mother came home and found the door ajar and immediately left to a neighbors house. Apparently, they were still there when she came home and got spooked. I shudder to think of what could have happened if she would have went inside. What remained were a few of our comforters on the floor with miscellaneous items of ours piled in the center. This was going to be the next thing they removed evidently. They had already taken all the major electronics out of the house. That is about the most violated feeling you can have.
I will definitely keep my eye out for any of these items, and hopefully they get these people. Have there been a rash of burglaries in the area lately. Look on the bright side if there is one, at least Virgin 1 is safe. It might be time to invest in an alarm system if you don't already have one. If you do get one add fire protection to it. Good Luck

Yes, yes it is. Would you think less of me if I said that the more I think about losing that guitar, the more "emotional" I get.
Brinks has been called and an appointment set up. I am also reinforcing the front door jam/strikers. I had already installed longer, stronger screws in the striker plates, which held. Unfortunately, the wood that they were in was JUNK!!! They even split/splintered the 2x6 stud behind. The cops tried to tell me that that was the problem... that the screws I installed broke because they were the "wrong" screws. They didn't. They didn't even bend! That just shows to go ya' what cops know.
Vince, did you understand my reference to you in my first post? I have to ask. 'Curious....
Ken, I know some people are big mean dog people, but I'm sorry. Just can't get into that scene. As far as I'm concerned, pets are what other people have these days. I have had lots of 'em in my past. Now, I can't be bothered. Our neighbor's have two dogs, one a black lab/pit combination and she is a really nice dog too. I enjoy being around her when I am too. But then I go home, if you know what I mean.
Our other (white trash) neighbor's have a doberman. My brother had doberman's... two of them. I can't stand them. I know how they think and all their stupid juvenile tricks, and I want no part of that breed.
I have had dogs, and cats, and hamsters (the rabid, mean ones,) and gerbils (the ones w/the 3" fangs and that bark,) and frankly, not for me any more.
I know you and others that really love their dogs. Having them, taking care of them and playing with them, and that's fine w/me. I understand... really! I just can't feel that way about a 24/7 dog in my house. It's a personal choice.

Yours, or mine? Hahah.
I am beginning to feel like Jaimie when he seemed to be having one problem after another. It's never ending for me/us this year. That's what I was referring to.
Oh, your a dog person, Ken. I am not an expert and have been questioning my own lately, but I don't see any signs of insanity from you.
