Speeding ticket
I decided to drive down to Fort Lauderdale this weekend to spend mothers day with mom, and on my way down there(I-95) the speed limit went from 70 to 55 and of course I wasn't watching my speed and keeping up with traffic when I noticed FHP behind me. In the end I was giving a speeding ticket for $462.00 for doing 82mph in a 55mph zone and I also got a $101.00 ticket for illegal window tint. I know I was wrong for speeding but dam those are some steep fines! The state of Florida decided to raise ticket fines by 40%. The trooper told me after he gave me my tickets that there is an illegal race going on in the state of Florida called Gumball 3000 so they will be out looking for speeders, SO DON'T SPEED ON I-95 or THE TURNPIKE IF YOU LIVE IN THE STATE OF FLORIDA!!!!! I'll still have money to take mom out to dinner! LOL

OUCH, Vince!! Damn. I would be pissed too. An expensive Mother's day for you.
The one and only speeding ticket I got was in V1 one Sunday morning when I was just cruising around to do some errands. 76 in a 65. Cost: $220 + "Court" costs, and I still thought that kinda' steep. To this day I couldn't tell you if I was actually going 76, but 4 motorcycle cops (BMW's?) pulled me over for it. Tell me that wasn't a speed trap.

I know!!! I have a court date and I'll hire an attorney to see what can be worked out, the points alone will kill my insurance rate. Driving on I-95 or the turnpike in Florida is like being in the Indy 500, you have to speed to not get run off the road or be involved in an accident. As far as the ticket for the illegal window tint it's cheaper to leave in on than remove it and have the car retinted.

Most likely you can get the points eliminated simply by showing up at court.
This has occurred with me 3 times in 3 different jurisdictions in the last few years (1 speeding 60 in 45, 1 roll-through stop @11pm in the country, and 1 turning against "no turn on Red")
They increased the fine by $15, changed the charge to "impeding traffic" which is a zero point offense.
I drove my souped up Mazda3 for 2 years straight with not a single ticket....2 years in a beige Taurus (which should blend in) and I've gotten the above. Ugh.

Being a young %&^% adult that i was 8 years ago. I recieved a speeding ticket in Nov (139km in a 80km zone), a stop sign roll thru in jan, and was involved in an accident where a lady sideswiped me in Mar. Needless to say, insurance company cancelled my insurance. I have paid all the tickets/damages and years of increased insurance costs. Tripple normal. Lets just say that I've been told. Learned my lesson. 99.8% of the time, anyway.
