The truth of Mazda and Ford

RE: The truth of Mazda and Ford
2007 JDPower dependability study just released. (vehicles in service 3 years....so 2004 vehicles)
Knock the Focus/Ford all you want. Focus outperformed the Mazda3 in this latest study...and Ford outperformed Mazda in general. The quality gap is rapidly closing between Japanese and Domestic manufacturers. All of the data coming out of the industry is clearly showing this.

RE: The truth of Mazda and Ford
Were not knocking just having fun. Typically everyone has their own taste in cars. Personally I do not like the focus or most ford cars, but that does not mean i think less of them. It just depends on the person's taste and what think think about certain cars. I would agree that the quality and fan base of the focus is great and could be said even more great than most mazda cars but again to each his own.

RE: The truth of Mazda and Ford
BTW...I currently own (2) Mazdas and (2) Fords, so I'm not particularly biased one way or the other.
I just can't stand it when people try to act like everything that could go bad on their Mazda is because of Ford, and everything good is solely because of Mazda. (Or that anything Japanese is good, anything American is bad.)

RE: The truth of Mazda and Ford
well first off im just relaying what ive seen on another forum, and second i kinda have lost faith in american car in general, i say this because the only cars that they make stand out are the ones that have more than 260hp and i much rather prefer 4cyl over anything.....well except 10 and up but thats a diff story. Ive been in alot of american cars stock and modded and have had nothing but bad exp with them for example my dads 02 explorer has been in the shop for the same crap for about 3 weeks now tranny and block issues, my friend HAD a 04 v8 stang that not only lost to my friends mostly stock civic but had to replace the clutch twice the head and rear traction bars and the thing was bone stock. Now he has a auto 67 camaro that is laughable i mean it sounds awesome but come on.....i beat it no really its that slow. My dads brother bought a 91 camaro and it broke not even 30mi away from dealer (now has Nissan Munaro). Mom had a v6 90 probe and got passed like it was standing still, but this the electrical system gave out.....twice (now has Nissan Maxima), my friends boss just bought a brand new z06....passenger rear tire fell off, owner of Northend performance (honda shop) had a z06......lost to my friends all motor integra....from a roll. The only cars that i have ever felt to be reliable in is my friends 11sec maxima, his 9sec single cam civic (scared the shyt outta me and a bunch of other imports, basically i have YET to be in or even see a decent affordable america car that is not on TV. Sad part i seem to come across is that american ppl dont even want the american version they want the euro or jdm version except those who love the REAL muscule cars now those boats i mean cars are the only ones worth owning. Rant over

A V8 Mustang losing to a "mostly" stock Civic? Depending on how "stock" the Civic was, I'd say someone didn't know how to work their clutch..
A Z06 losing to an Integra? A Z06 could beat an Integra from a roll at 20MPH while in 4th gear the whole time. I wouldn't even consider this one unless that Integra was a Mugen Integra or similar. Even then, I'd still say the Z06 driver probably didn't shift correctly...assuming these races were in a straight line. Though I'd still be obliged to hand it to the Z06 easily.
Muscle cars were the foundation of performance automobiles here. Tell me, was Mazda (or any other Japanese manufacturer) making anything that could truly compete with muscle cars in the 60s? Uhh, no. While they certainly are flawed today (muscle cars, that is), so are imports.
And yes, I do own a Chevy myself - an 04 Malibu. And I have it for a good reason - commuting. It's in the same class as the 6, so of course it's compared often...but what was the better value? The Malibu was a much better value - for 2k less I got a Mali with 10K fewer miles, and a V6. So you say it doesn't handle like the 6 - and I quote(though I don't remember who said it) "the 6 outhandles most things." However, these are FWD saloons, people! What do you expect from them?We buy sedans for convienece, for the most part (though many people like myself have to go for sedans due to our stature) and they're a bit out of water when it comes to racing. Sure, the 6 IS used in some official races, but it's only competing against other FWD cars, save the Audi in its class (a4 or a6, can never rememeber), which as far as I've sen, lights it up with its Quattro system.
And finally, you should take a look at the Domestics from ~04 and newer - they've made much better vehicles, save Dodge & Chrysler...but that's a different story. So seriously, get out of the "American bad, Japanese good" mentality...you never know if you'll get beat by a domestic on the road someday.

RE: The truth of Mazda and Ford
oh i know the 4 banger of the old days were junk i never said they were but anything past the 80's the 4 bangers are a hell of a lot better. Thats why i sayi LIKE the og muscle cars. Btw the obd2 imports are not that impressive id mch rather have a obd1 or obd0, alot more power and alot more fun to drive, also whoever said the 6 can handling is the greatest MUST have been taking about the speed 6. Anyway the civic the stang lost to had a built block minor head work and sprayed a 25 shot and ran 13's all day plus it was a single and the funny thing was he only had 3 gears, 1st, 2nd, and 5th. The integra had a fully built h22 with a 50 shot and they ran from a 40 roll.....i made 60 bucks that night. Also the 6 is in alot of other professional categories, the tripoint 6 is freaking awesome, rolling by audi's, porcshe, and hondas like they were in reverse but its the 2.3l motor not the 3.0. Oh yes the newer style american cars have made improvements but now they just compete with imports with obd0 or 1 motors. Most obd2 imports (4cyl) are poop, well the american versions atleast the euro and jdm versions are much better and even come with more options. Oh btw id prefer dodge over ford and chevy but chevy over ford out of those 3, but Nissan is still my fave but is a close tie to mazda......well the 3rd gen rx7 atleast.

About the 6 competing: are they using the regular 2.3L as a base, or do they use the Speed6 as a base? Either way, I'll grant it passing Hondas...the only impressive Honda anymore is the S2000, since they've decided to stop production on the NSX. If it's still a FWD model, it is hard to believe that it could blow by Porches (which are likely 911 turbos) and Audis. Competing with them is one thing...but I can't see a FWD car just blowing by RWD and AWD in any course with real corners.
Unless the 6 has AWD, then I'll grant it all of that.

RE: The truth of Mazda and Ford
The civic with 3 gears ran mid 13's at track but of course had to spray to get it but only a 25 shot.....thats how he bent the shyt outta his cam...i remember i was the one pulling it out at 1am in winter cold.
Nope its the 2.3l FWD it had a really great driver behind the wheel though i forgot his name, some british guy, the AWD audi was slow as shyt it gained ground around the turns but on the straights it was crap (like all AWD cars from a roll) they were just too heavy to keep up, as a matter of fact the driver of one of the tripoint mazda6 quit the porsche team to get with mazda. In general Mazda is really doing great with the touring car races especially the rx-8, on the race day of Mazda celebrating 40 yrs of the rotary motor it spun out 2 times and still came in first. Btw its just more than mazda, porsche, and audi, its honda, ford, chevy, dodge, and 2 others i cant remeber right now, what i wanna see it mazda using the speed3 in these races, cuz they have a srt-4 in one of them its crap havent seen one finish above 10th place.
