Default '92 626 Turn Signal Problem

Boy, am I glad to find you guys!! My '92 626 has a left turn signal that was intermittently working, and has now
quit. The bulbs appear to be fine, but the flasher is clicking at what seems to be twice as fast as it was when the
signal was working.

Any ideas?? I'm looking for my test light, but haven't found it yet!!

Both front and rear not working and do they all work ok when using the hazard switch?

Neither the front or rear is working.....and not with the hazard flashers, either!!

Right side is still working, and with the hazard flasher, too......

And the flasher....clicking....is considerably faster than when it worked.

You better find that test light then. It is probably the flasher unit itself up under the dash above where your left foot would rest.
The Green w/ black stripe wire is the flashing voltage output for the left side turn bulbs, Green w/ white wire is for the right side. The flasher unit has two separate flasher coils inside of it. One for the left side and one for the right. If you are hearing the click without any output then the contacts inside have most probably become burnt. Have made temp repairs in the past by taking the relay plastic cover off and using a small file or sandpaper to freshen up the contacts. A nail file will also work in a pinch.

Thanks for the quick responses, Babyhuey!! I'll probably just go buy a new flasher unit, instead of filing
the contacts, but that's definitely within my capabilities!!

This '92 has been good to me!! Original owner, and it now has 246,700 miles. Heck, I just replaced the ORIGINAL clutch about 4,000 Miles Ago!!

Gonna hate to have to replace this one.....it's starting to go thru oil....

Almost 1/4 million miles!!! You must take really good care of the car. Nice to hear. So many do not.
Replacement is always the best option for the relay. Cleaning is only a temp repair as once the contacts get burnt they are never the same again. Do not know if it will be available from the aftermarket. OE part # is HE01-66-830 with MSRP of $62.40. A bit cheaper at www.onlinemazdaparts.com. Do not see any available from local dealers in Georgia. Closest is in Virginia so will probably have to order if not available from the aftermarket.

One more silly question...I got down and looked under the dash, and all I see
is ductwork for the A/C, I'm guessing.

Can I get to this relay without having to mess with the ductwork?? I fear that this relay was installed, and then the car was built around it!! Hopefully, this isn't the case...

I do not remember having to remove any ducting in order to gain access to the relays. Once that black plastic trim shield where the footwell light resides is removed the relays should just be all hanging there on brackets. Follow the sound of clicking to the flasher.

babyhuey.....

The flasher arrived today, so I went out to the car, and popped that trim piece that holds
the footwell lamp out of the way, and just reached up there till I found a part
that resembled the new one in my other hand.

Yanked that one out, and plugged the new one in.....VOILA!!!

I now have BOTH SIDES turnsignals working!! And the Hazard Flashers!!

Thanks again for the info and the lead on where to get the part!!
