trying to identify a paint colour
hi folks. im looking for some help trying to identify what colour (specifically, paint code) my 300zx is painted in. it was painted about 5 years ago, and the bodyshop described it as 'mazda atlantic blue'. a while later they closed down, and im having some bodywork done and i have no idea what the paint code is, nor have i been able to track down the painter.
ive only managed to find one hit on 'atlantic blue' which is 19H, but haven't been able to find pictures of a car in that colour. ive gone into a mazda showroom and tried to match my petrol flap against a 'winning blue' mazda but thats definately a different colour. i think there was also a 'bright island blue mica' which looks close in some pictures, but not quite in others.
ive tried a couple of bodyshops, and gone through hundreds and hundreds of paint tabs, but not been able to match them. before i shell out on having it pigment-scanned, can anyone share their opinions on this, as ive only got 3 weeks left to ID the paint code before my car goes into the other bodyshop!
thanks, Dave.

The color looks to me like an older (1st Gen) Miata color, however, Subaru also used a color called Atlantic blue mica?
Truthfully though, to get a good match with any blue that may be a few years old, you may need to have it scanned... your best bet, imo.
Blue is the second fastest color to fade in sunlight, next to red, and any mix they do to attempt to match the original recipe will like be too dark, or the wrong hue compared to how the car may have faded in that time.

thanks for the suggestion virgin1 - i rang the bodyshop yesterday and he looked up the 19H paint code and reckons this could be the one im looking for. he says in the end if its not right then he can still match it, it'll just mean the job will take longer than planned. the bodywork's being done at the end of this month so i'll let you know how i get on!
thanks again,.

Y'know what makes me happy? The fact that after we put in out 2 cents, you didn't just leave us hanging. The fact that you seem to have appreciated our time and input. Thank you, Dave!! You have helped to restore my faith in car guys and their forums....
Now with that out of the way.... GREAT!!! I am happy for you too!!
What is the 19H paint code? Did it turn out to be a Subbie color or a Mazda color? What's it actually called?
Please post pics when you git 'er done too. I'm sure we'd love to see it in the raw.
